Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with all facets of the process of turning a new chemical entity (NCE) into a medication able to be safely and effectively used by patients in the community. Pharmaceutics is the science of dosage form design. There are many chemicals with known pharmacological properties but a raw chemical is of no use to a patient. Pharmaceutics deals with the formulation of a pure drug substance into a dosage form. Specialisations in Pharmacy deal with specific aspects of scientific knowledge that include design, fabrication, and evaluation of drug delivery systems.
For effective design, fabrication, and evaluation of drug delivery systems, it requires a knowledge in a number of areas such as the chemical sciences, biological sciences, and mathematics. Post Graduate programmes in pharmaceutics include academics from departments such as chemistry, materials science, engineering, biochemistry, medical science, and mathematics.
To produce a competent pharmacist to meet the challenges of the industry in the areas: drug development, formulation and development, production activities, validation, drug regulatory affairs etc., for becoming niche in the business and to develop the ability to formulate and evaluate various dosage forms, plan his/her work efficiently using the time and recourses, think and evaluate scientifically and critically. Specialized course deals with production /manufacture and formulation and process development bulk drugs and intermediates, bioavailabity studies various stage of packing of pharmaceuticals.
After the completion of degree in M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutics), one will have good range of career options in various pharmaceutical companies, in the Formulation R&D and DMPK departments, Pilot plant, Technology transfer, Trouble shooting lab and Production.
Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance is a broad subject area that includes qualitative and quantitative analysis of drugs, excipients, impurities etc to meet the regulatory requirements.
To produce a competent pharmaceutical analyst to meet the demands of the pharmaceutical industries in terms of analysis, control of materials (raw and finished), standards and compliance with regulatory bodies and also to develop ability to work in pharmaceutical industries on modern analytical methods, instruments, analytical method development, validation, analytical research and achieving global standards.
Pharmaceutical analysis laboratories are well equipped with modern and sophisticated instruments such as HPLC, UV/VISIBLE/NIR, FT-IR, FLUORIMETER, AAS, NEPHELOTURBIDOMETER, pH-meter, POTENTIOMETER, etc. for analysis of the bulk drug and its various formulation as per official compendia like IP, BP & USP etc.
After the completion of degree in M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutical Analysis), one will have good range of career options in various pharmaceutical and chemical companies, in the departments concerning Analytical R&D relating to Formulation and API, Quality control and Quality assurance.
To produce a competent industrial pharmacist to meet the ever increasing requirements of industries in all spheres of activity and fostering the growth of establishments and to develop the ability to formulate and evaluate various dosage forms, to think and evaluate scientifically and critically, in a comprehensive manner. Specialized course deals with Formulation and process development, up scaling from pilot to manufacture, trouble shooting, stability and packaging development Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality assurance-specialized course deals with product testing throughout the life cycle of drug and finished product- Quality Management.
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a master's degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines. The core courses in the MBA program are designed to introduce students to the various areas of business such as accounting, marketing, human resources, operations management, etc. As per Osmania University almanac our college offer four specilization in the areas namely Marketing Management / Financial Management / Human Resource Management / System Management as major / minor specilization. The student has option of choosing any one major and minor specilization depending up on their area of interest. For details visit : Vijaya PG College
